Defender Chronicles – Tower Defence to the Extreme
I don’t play much TD games but, this one is really the best TD game of all time. Defender Chronicles is really immersive on the game play and requires more strategy than other TD games. A normal TD game has a path of where the enemies walk on like “The Creeps!” for example Defender Chronicles on the other hand has enemies coming from different directions which requires much more strategy. Now I’m not a big TD fan, but this one is really great. The 2D animation and art work is truly amazing. There is a twist with this TD game, at the end of the path where the enemies walk there is your “General”. Once you get far enough into the game you can start buying upgrades for your “General” some of these upgrades for your “General” include: Helmet, Weapon, Platelets, Plate body and others. In order to buy these items you have to get tokens, and to get tokens you have to beat the levels thus granting you with more tokens to buy upgrades. This feature really helps for harder levels and is a great add-on for the game. There are lots of other upgrades for your “General” you could go to the Great Library in Defender Chronicles for other upgrades. The game is packed full of upgrades which is really helpful. The storyline of Defender Chronicles is really deep and is great. As for the levels, before each time you start a level there is an “advisor” that gives you advice on how to beat each level. Now, you might think “I don’t need an advisor” well, even the easiest levels are very hard. Now, about the only thing bad about this game is when it starts you all the way zoomed in which wastes time when you have to place out posts for your fighters. The levels last quite a while with their length, and there’s lots of enemies on the screen plus there are different kinds of soldiers that fight for you (Knight, Ranger, and Magician). The levels are very dynamic, in how the enemies enter in and out. The replay value is semi-high, and for the price it is at it’s well worth it. If you are a hardcore TD fan or just a normal TD fan, Defender Chronicles is a must have.
4 1/2 stars out of 5.
