Apple Not Concerned with Dropping Apple Music Subscription Numbers
Apple Music has lost millions of its users as early adopters, who were part of the 90 day free trial look for other free music streaming services. When Apple Music first launched, new users were able to sign up for a 90-day free subscription. Unsurprisingly though, millions of users flocked to the service.
Currently there’s an estimated 6.5 million paying subscribers and an estimated 8.5 million users still in a free trial. Whilst some users have retained their subscriptions other users who were early adopters have moved across to rival music subscription services such as Spotify, which already has 20 million paid music subscribers.
Cook isn’t too concerned about users leaving the service with the CEO happy with the current user numbers. “I’m really happy about it, and I think the runaway number here is really good.” Cook said in regards to the amount of users retaining the service at a Laguna Beach conference on Monday.
It will be interesting to see who wins in this tug-of-war battle between the two giant music streaming services, and it will most likely continue for a while to come.
