Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe Enters in Agreement with Pixowl
The Sandbox developer Pixowl and Bandai Namco Entertainment Europe officially have entered into a partnership for the upcoming The Sandbox Evolution game, the sequel to the acclaimed 2D pixel-art world builder mobile game which has been downloaded over 16 million times. Thanks to this new partnership, Pixowl will offer its fans the opportunity to create their own pixel universes. In addition players will also be able to create their very own games by adding controllable heroes, including some of the most popular classics from Bandai Namco, such as Pan-Man and many more. Pixowl will also be releasing new characters from Bandai Namco throughout the year after the launch of The Sandbox Evolution, expected at the end of June 2016.
In The Sandbox Evolution, players use their power to build their own pixel worlds — or destroy the universe — with a complex, yet easy-to-use physics tool box and over 170 elements. Players will achieve specific levels and missions in graphically enhanced 2D environments. Creations including platformer games, pixel art, chiptunes music, physics- based simulations can be shared and played by users around the globe — thus turning the game into a platform for creators, artists and gamers. While the game is currently in beta, The Sandbox Evolution has already gathered several awards and nominations, including “Winner of Most Promising IP Award” at Game Connection America Developer Awards 2016 and “Best Upcoming Game of 2016” nomination at IMGA awards.
“We’re thrilled to be collaborating with a leader in casual mobile games such as Pixowl who has strong experience in the UGC based business segment. I’m sure it’s going to be a great partnership! said Tatsuya Kubota, Head at Mobile & Web Gaming at BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe S.A.S.
Arthur Madrid, CEO & Co-Founder at Pixowl, comments on the partnership. “Gaming is now about making players create their very own content. Players want to be makers. No more rules! Everybody has the capacity to create their own levels in a few minutes and share them. With our partnership with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Europe, THE SANDBOX becomes an even more engaging platform that will enable this community to design and compete in PAC-MAN mazes and other level platformers.”
As of now this is all the information Bandai gave to us, however, we’re told more can be expected later this year.
