Video: Newton OS Running on an iPhone
Does anyone here happen to remember the Newton OS? Anyone? Well, if you don’t, there’s no need to worry. Here’s some info from Wikipedia:
Newton OS was the operating system for the Apple Newton PDAs produced by Apple from 1993-1997. Newton OS was written entirely in C++ and trimmed to be low power consuming and use the available memory efficiently. Similar to the original Apple Macintosh, many applications were written in the ROM of the Newton to save DRAM and flash space for user applications.
But anyway, moving on. Someone has managed to create a emulator of Newton OS for the iPhone and has posted a video on Youtube showing it off. This emulator is also available for the Mac, PC, along with Linux and many other platforms. To download the emulator and see more info, click here.
As you can tell, the emulator is a little sluggish, but it;s still pretty cool.
