MSI Announces New Desktop Workstations
Continuing on with our coverage of MSI’s newest computers, they have updated their workstation line with the Vortex W25 and updated WT75, WS63 and WE series of mobile workstations. As a world first, the Vortex W24 is the first 2.5L desktop powered by NVIDIA’s Quadro P5200 GPU.
Vortex W25
To compliment the impressive graphics card, the Vortex W25 also comes equipped with the latest Intel 8th generation processor. This processor features six cores total plus hyperthreading is is up to 30% more powerful than the last-gen. With these CPU and GPU combined, the W25 is ideal for 3D rendering and VR.
In addition this workstation is cooled by MSI’s Cooler Boost Titan solution to handle intense workloads and gaming. Worth noting is that the W25’s Quadro P5200 GPU has better thermal efficiency than the average Quadro DT. Also, MSI is expanding its ISV Certifications in 2018.
Thanks to the small design, the W25 sports a VESA mount to be attached to monitors or a wall. Due to the tool-less design to remove the top cover, devices like the NVMe M.2 SSD by PCIe Gen3/SATA SSD Combo slots, 2.5″ hard drive and dual DDR4-2400 can be accessible.
WE Series and WT75 Updated
According to information given to me via email, MSI has updated their WE series of workstations with Intel 8th gen CPUs and NVIDIA Quadro GPUs. Those wanting enterprise-level CPUs can opt for Intel Xeon processors, however, it will come at a greater cost.
The newest WT75 are also powered by Xeon CPUs and the Pascal generation of Quadro GPUs. From there, the WT75 sports a Windows Hello Certified fingerprint lock and a smartcard reader. Intel Authenticate has also been implemented for hardware-enhanced identity protection.
WS63
Those looking for a balance between performance and portability may want to opt for the MSI WS63. It features the same 8th generation Intel CPU and NVIDIA Quadro graphics as all the others. The main difference is the cooling design. Using MSI’s Cooler Boost Trinity thermal solution, it has up to a 20% better airflow. Lastly, the WS63 features a Windows Hello Certified fingerprint lock and Intel vPro.
Summary
As of right now the only workstation available is the Vortex W25 for $2,049 on Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg. According to MSI’s announcement, the updated WT75, WS63 and WE series will be available later this summer.
