Independent developer Lukas Korba has recently released his latest game, Qubies, onto the App Store as a free download for iPhone and iPad. Qubies is a match-3 game that you play upside down, similar to the classic “block falling” games like Tetris and Columns. As groups of colored cubes fall, players must move and rotate these to match colors in groups of three cubes or more. Beware though, the speed gets progressively faster the farther you get in the game.

With simple touch controls, bright colors, and an ecstatic soundtrack, Qubies is a minimalist match-3 game. The free download comes with Classic mode — no ads or time-outs, just straight up puzzle challenge. For players who want more, a $1.99 in-app purchase unlocks additional game modes and saves high scores to the global leaderboard. For those who may not know, Qubies is the second mobile game created entirely by Lukas Korba, a Czech game designer who recently quit his job Icflix to focus on his own projects.

Octagon is a new arcade game with features of Super Hexagon and Boson X combined that alters this genre with awesome controls and trippy graphics. The game is made for players who are looking for a quick moment to play that only lasts a few minutes each time and with unlimited levels and no in-app purchases, you get a lot for your money. Randomized graphics and levels make Octagon different every time you play and it also comes with a nice electronica soundtrack  from Sqeepo that fits the game perfectly.
