If you haven’t heard the news yet — Pwn Dev Team has released a brand new jailbreak tool “Ac1dSn0w” that can be used to do jailbreak iOS 5.0 and 5.0.1. At the time, it’s only a tethered jailbreak, hopefully an untethered jailbreak will follow soon but we can only wish. Anyway, if you’re feeling adventurous here’s a handy guide to jailbreak your iOS 5 device.

1. Connect your iDevice running iOS 5.0 or 5.0.1 to your Mac.
2. Enable the “Show Assistant” option, the DFU Mode Assistant will guide you through entering your iDevice into DFU mode.
   • Note: If you’re not familiar with how to enter DFU mode, this step option is helpful!
3. After DFU Mode, you’re ready to jailbreak, select the “Jailbreak” option.
4. After that, you will need to enter DFU Mode again to complete the tethered jailbreak process. Follow the DFU Mode Assistant’s instructions if need be.
5. Finally, select the “Tethered Boot” option from the main Ac1dSn0w window.

This tethered jailbreak is for the following iDevices:

• iPhone 3GS
• iPhone 4
• iPod touch 4G
• iPad 1
