Unreleased iPod Colors Appear in iTunes 12.2
On Tuesday, Apple released iTunes 12.2 for Mac and PC to support Apple Music. Within the iTunes update, images of new iPod colors have surfaced which may indicate Apple is planning to refresh the iPod lineup soon. This image appears when plugging in a new iPod via USB for the first time.
The image shows off a dark blue iPod touch, a gold/beige iPod nano and a light pink iPod shuffle. These color offerings are not available to purchase through Apple. It’s worth noting that the loop bracelet is missing on the back, which is on the current version of the iPod touch.
Apple hasn’t updated its iPod images since 2013, when the company removed the “slate” color from its lineup. Previously, Apple has updated its iPod lineup in September, alongside the iPhone. But, in recent years, it seems as the iPod lineup has been neglected as the line hasn’t been updated in over 2 years. Apple has also removed the iPod header from their website.
