A mention of jelly takes me back to my childhood days. My mom used to make colorful and delicious bowls of it for dessert and I remember how fascinated I used to be on seeing it wobble. Here is a puzzle based on jelly. Jelly All Stars Full is an iPhone app that promises addictive fun. What you need to do is collect jellies of the same color to score points. Well, it is not as easy as it seems!

What’s the app about?

Jelly All Stars Full is a matching game in which you have to sort out same-colored jellies and group them. This fabulous game contains different types of levels and challenges that hold your attention. The app belongs to the Games category in the App Store and it is a single-player game perfect for both kids and adults.

How does the app work?

Tap on the start option to play the game. The jellies that you have to combine start falling down slowly. You have to drag and drop the jellies in the right place to arrange them color-wise, either vertically or horizontally to score points. By tapping on the arrow keys provided in the app, you can change the order of the jellies. You can even see the next pair of jellies that are going to be dropped. Remember that your eyes and fingers will have to work together in perfect coordination, to boost the score.

You are provided with different types of power-ups like Diamond, Arrow and an Unknown jelly. Using these power-ups you can get more space to organize the falling jellies. A black-colored angry jelly interrupts your work from time to time and you have to destroy it with a star-shaped detonator.

Special features of the app:

Jelly All Stars Full provides words of appreciation like “Sweet”, “Stylish”, “Awesome” etc., on the successful completion of a level. The app has a Local Highscore option where you can see the points scored in each level. It also has an Online Highscores option with which you can know about the points secured by other players. Jelly All Stars Full has adorable graphics and awesome music. The funny expressions of the jellies put a smile on your face. The tutorial section of the app explains each option in detail, making it easy to follow the game. The app could have had multi-player options to make the levels all the more challenging.

Jelly All Stars Full is an addictive action game that engages and entertains and provides great value for money. It costs $0.99 and requires iOS 3.1.3 or later versions. The app also has a free version, Jelly All Stars Light.

In late December 2012, a new game came out from Immanitas Entertainment GmbH, Crash Dummy. I had commented about its release on AppReviewCentral a while back. It looked like a fun game  and was looking forwarding to playing it.

I finally got a copy and one of my sons decided to take the initiative and test the game for me. We both like the game but unfortunately it crashes on us in the tutorial. I contacted the developer and an update came out but again it still crashes. I am running it on an iPod Touch 5th Generation so it might work better on another device. Now it does not crash right away. We can play the game, but we have found that a certain spot(s) the game, specifically the tutorial area,  just stops and we cannot go any further.

If another updates comes out I will let you know but for this review we will provide a comment on what we have been about to do in the game. Crash Dummy comes with 16 levels, two of which are tutorials levels. With each level you want to get the best score possible. The levels are locked so you will need to play them in order initially. You will need to finish the tutorial to get to the main levels.

CID is the main crash dummy that you play. Professor Advisor’s daughter is kidnapped by his arch-nemesis D-Troit and it is CID’s job to rescue her. Crash Dummy is a running type game where you need to get CID through the level and deal with locked doors, robots, bad guys, crates, obstacles, and more. To control CID you use an on screen joystick and buttons. Your options are run, jump, sneak, climb, slide, and punch. You should not have any trouble with the controls. As you move through the game, you will have to unlock doors, etc and these are represented by a green hand that appears over it.

The game graphics and music are great. There is also a very extensive story in the game which I really like. I enjoy playing a game that has a story you have to follow. To quote my son “The game is awesome, I really wish it did not crash“. I am not sure if others have experienced what we have or maybe we are doing something wrong. But none the less Crash Dummies does look to be a fun and entertaining game.
