Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, a brand new game set in Game Workshop‘s famous Warhammer universe, has finally launched and is now available to download from the App Store. Developed by Pixel Toys, the game is optimized for iPhone 6S and 6S Plus with 3D Touch control mechanics and takes full advantage of Apple’s latest A9X processor. The newest addition to the Warhammer series for iOS also gives players the command of an Imperial Knight, a colossal armored war mech, to engage in large-scale combat.

As an Imperial Knight, whose noble Drakkus house has been destroyed by the power of Chaos, players team up with the Dark Angels Space Marine chapter. Throughout the game players embark on a journey of redemption on the world of Tarnis destroying any enemies in their path. Sporting a 40-mission campaign, additional Patrol missions, forging and customization systems, Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade puts players in the middle of heavy-weapon combat with classic 40k enemy forces. These missions also take place in authentic environments from the Warhammer 40,000 universe.

For gamers using the iPhone 6S and 6S Plus, an all new control system has been implemented using 3D touch. The deeper you press into the screen means the further you zoom into the sights, while a reduction in pressure zooms the sights back out. From there, pressing down far enough will switch to a different weapon, providing a much better experience and less screen clutter with buttons on the screen.

Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade also offers a highly-detailed customization system where players can make use of Games Workshop‘s replicated paints and decorations to personalize their Knight. Apart from that, there’s a huge crafting system that allows players to forge and equip powerful weapons including the Avenger Gatling Cannon and the Melta Gun. Besides the game’s core campaign, players can complete daily challenges and compete against each other in specific missions to win legendary weapons, armor and equipment.

Games Workshop‘s hit Warhammer 40,000 is set to get an update later this year with the release of Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade, a new tap-to-shoot action combat experience that’s developed by Pixel Toys. Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade marks a first in being the first franchise game on any platform that allows players to take command of an Imperial Knight, a colossal armored war mech, with an armory of heavy weapons to take on the enemies. Additionally, the first gameplay trailer has been released, giving us a better look into what the game will be like.

Featuring intense 3rd-person shooter combat action, players take command of their own Imperial Knight as they play through a 40+ mission campaign, complete with additional randomly-created Patrol missions. Players can also customize and equip their Imperial Knight to blast through destructible environments and battle with deadly enemy forces from the Warhammer 40,000 universe. There’s also an expansive loot and crafting system where players can can forge, upgrade and customize their Imperial Knight

Not too long ago, Games Workshop and Turbo Tape Games revealed that the much anticipated Warhammer: Arcane Magic, a turn based strategy board game, is slated for release sometime later this year. In the game, gamers play as powerful, dueling wizards who use their spell cards to defeat their opponents and monsters. For those accommodated with the Warhammer series, Warhammer: Arcane Magic takes place during the magical storms of the Old World and the Chaos Wastelands.

Players take on the roles of wizards from the Warhammer world — including Teclis, Balthasar Gelt, and Wurrzag. Each wizard has unique powers and spells to fight iconic Warhammer monsters and demons ranging from Harpies, Cygors and Ghorgons to Exalted Bloodthirsters, Lords of Change, and Keepers of Secrets. Warhammer: Arcane Magic will also feature a deep single-player campaign that allows players to travel to the far reaches of the world in search of Arcane Power.

As we covered last week, HeroCraft has announced that their latest turn-based tactical combat game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf, is now available on the App Store for free. Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf is a squad-based strategy game with upgradable characters and perks. The game is driven by using collectible cards that represent the arsenal of weapons and abilities of the brothers of Fenris. For those who are familiar with the Warhammer on Steam, we highly recommend checking out the iOS iteration because it’s just as good as the PC version. From what we were told, PvP multiplayer is “coming soon” to the game along with new content, cards, campaigns and gameplay modes. Right now there’s no estimated timeframe, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated.

As we reported on a couple months ago, HeroCraft has finally announced the upcoming release of their new strategy game, Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf, licensed by Games Workshop. The worldwide release on the App Store is set for October 28th and the game will be compatible with both iPhone and iPad. Warhammer 40,000: Space Wolf will be a turn-based squad-based strategy game with character upgrades, squad management, single player campaign and collectible card game elements. As expected, the game will be set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe for those who are already familiar with the Warhammer series.
