How to: Enable Orientation Lock on your iOS Device
Let’s admit it — it can get really annoying when you’re laying down on the couch or your bed trying to play a game or read something on the internet and the orientation if the screen may rotate. Well, thankfully Apple has introduced a nice little option to lock the current position of the screen. Read on below for the full details.
iPad
Thankfully in the iPad Apple has given you the ability to choose between a couple of options of toggling on and off the orientation lock. You can change the mute switch to the orientation lock, so you don’t have to keep bringing up the multitasking tray constantly. To do so, follow the steps below.
- Open up the Settings app.
- Tap on “General”.
- Under the “Use Slide Switch To:” option, select “Lock Rotation”.
- And you’re set!
As always you can go back to change it to the default, however, with this it gives you two nice options for you to choose from. Now, onto the iPhone…
iPhone
While the iPad gives you a couple nice options to choose what you like best, it’s different for the iPhone. As of now the only way to change the orientation lock is to open up the multitasking tray and swipe to where the music controls are. Hopefully soon though, Apple may implement something similar in the iPhone as the iPad does. But in the mean time, enjoy!
