Nexon Announces Open-World MMORPG ‘Durango’
Nexon, in partnership with What! Studio, has announced their latest upcoming game Durango that is set in a primitive alternate universe inhabited by dinosaurs. Set to release later this year, Durango is an open-world massively multiplayer online role-playing game and looks to be quite impressive. In the game players are taken to the world of Durango, where a primitive environment is mixed with modern items from their previous world.
The only way players can survive is by using modern materials from their previous lives to explore and transform the world around them. This is also heavily dependent on the players around them, as this is a MMORPG. We’re told that Durango will offer a fully-featured MMO experience on mobile, which is pretty exciting if it works out in the end.
Throughout the Durango gamers must learn to use the land to their advantage and craft weapons, armor plus tools to construct villages and more from their surroundings. According to the developers the game uses a procedurally generated world building system that populates the world with an infinite number of locations to discover and explore. From there various continents can be inhabited where there’s more resources to explore.
“Durango raises the bar for persistent and massive open-world games on mobile devices,” said Lawrence Koh, General Manager, Nexon M. “What! Studio has created a rich and dynamic experience for players to truly become pioneers amongst dinosaurs, allowing them to shape the world, events and story through social gameplay and cooperative and competitive in-game events.”
Also worth noting is that rival clans and players can challenge each other in real-time PvP or Clan versus Clan combat to see who is the strongest and most powerful. As of now this is all the information we have available, however, we’ll keep you updated as the year goes on. Durango is set to release sometime later this year.
