As of this week the real-time strategy creation game, Battleplans, graced the App Store with its compelling and terribly addictive presence. Available for free, the title opts to pair squad tactics and more traditional action-packed strategy aspects, to form a truly unique game. Players must save their island kingdom from evil ‘Skull’ invaders, by thwarting them with carefully planned takedowns. To do so, you must free heroes, take back lands, build an army, reclaim lost resources and, ultimately, claim your victory.

Battleplans offers both competitive and campaign play modes. In the former, players must strive to be the best across the islands already freed from the evil ‘Skulls’, by using real-time strategy skills against foes worldwide. Conversely, in the campaign mode, players will find themselves having to establish control of bases, strengthening strongholds with the addition of heroes unlocked along the way. By stealing back resources, players can improve bases and improve the skills within their army.

If you find that you’re not performing at your best within the game and opponents are thwarting you left, right and centre, you can always take advantage of the incredibly handy video playback tool, where you can check out the holes in your attacks and defences.
