‘Father.IO’ Augmented Reality Laser Tag Now Available for iOS
After fulfilling 15,000 units to Indiegogo backers, the augmented reality startup Proxy42 has officially announced Father.IO and the Inceptor device to go with the application. Father.IO combines mechanics found in first-person shooters and combines those elements with AR gameplay.
When paired with an Inceptor, the associated device for Father.IO, it offers an unique Augmented Reality experience. Those interested can download the application for free on iOS or Android, while the physical Inceptor device is available for pre-order from Brookstone.
Father.IO is a massively multiplayer first-person AR shooter that changes public parks and outdoor spaces into battlefields. Players can choose from four classes that have their own weapons, abilities, and upgrades. Working together is an important part of achieving victory as there’s a satellite minimap within the game to coordinate attacks and form strategies. As part of the game’s mechanics, there’s the ability for players to “respawn” if they are taken down.
The laster tag-esque feeling comes from the Inceptor, a device the size of a keychain that attaches and augments a device via Bluetooth. The Inceptor features proprietary infrared projection and sensing technology, allowing it to communicate with units up to 150 feet away.
Those interested can download Father.io on the App Store for free and pre-order the Inceptor device here. Continue reading this post ->
