Last month on April 10th, Apple opened up pre-orders for its latest gadget, the Apple Watch. Some customers were disappointed to see shipments ranging from 4-6 weeks to July. Luckily, Apple has been pushing out Watch orders fairly quickly. Though, some models have yet to ship at all.
The largest delays seem to be the Apple Watch with link bracelet (both Stainless Steel and Space Black Stainless Steel, $999-$1,099), the Leather Loops with Stainless Steel case (all colors, $699), and the Modern Buckle with Stainless Steel case (all colors, $749). As these models have yet to be shipped at all.
It seems that the Apple Watch itself is holding up pretty well, it’s the bands that are causing the delay. Specifically, the Space Black model seems to be having the biggest issue. As some Apple Stores don’t even have them on display or for try-on appointments. It’s also worth noting that the company updated the images of the Space Black model, showing a much darker representation of the Watch. This may concern some customers as Apple might have some consistency issues with the coloring of the Space Black model.
On the same line, the Space Gray Apple Watch sport had some shipments go out on 4/24, the original Apple Watch launch day, though the Watch is still being backordered. 9to5Mac confirms that silver models of the 42mm Apple Watch sport are shipping at a higher rate than the 42mm Space Gray Sport model.
