Ubisoft Announces ‘Rocksmith’ for iOS, Soft Launched in Canada
Hot off the press Ubisoft has recently announced the development of Rocksmith for iOS, allowing new players to join the more than four million people who have learned to play guitar with the Rocksmith software. From what we were told, Rocksmith is soft launched in Canada and will be available at a later time as a free-to-play app across the entire world.
Rocksmith sports a new look designed specifically for iOS and the app supports acoustic guitars using the built-in microphone with no need for any extra accessories. If desired, users can also plug in an electric guitar or bass using any compatible adapter or cable.
Rocksmith offers a variety of practice tools to help users learn guitar or bass, including Dynamic Difficulty, Riff Repeater, interactive video lessons and Practice Tracks. Dynamic Difficulty system reacts to each player’s abilities and tailors the difficulty level as they play, so players are always challenged but not overwhelmed.
In total, there’s more than 80 interactive video lessons that teach basic and advanced skills with real-time feedback on the player’s performance. Rocksmith comes with four free songs while additional songs can be purchased through the in-app shop. We’ve also been notified that players can expect new songs to be added weekly.
Right now there’s no word on when we can expect a global release, but players in Canada can test out the game for the time being.
