We tend to think of burglars as criminals, but what if they’re only stealing stuff to fight back against injustice in a city rife with corruption? That’s right: still criminals. But heroic criminals. And that’s what you play in Burglars, Inc., a unique puzzler from two-man studio Fuzzy Orbit Games.
The basic gameplay is a bit like the vending machine hacking mini-game in BioShock, in that you have to rotate sections of chain to make a path from one point to another. It’s a piece-connecting puzzle game then, but it’s one of the most elaborate of its kind that you can imagine.
The game board is littered with loot and other items, and you have to try to connect the various branching sections of your chain so that the connected area incorporates the items you want to collect, which adds a whole new dimension of strategy.
Then you take your loot and buy gear and tools to help you get more loot to buy more stuff and so on, in a gameplay loop that will keep you tapping into the small hours as you try to collect all 45 bits of gear, 30 badges, 50 ranks, 60 trophies, and an undisclosed number of hidden secrets. There are around 200 levels, with eight different puzzle types, and all of this is wrapped in a fun story about fighting injustice.
Burglars, Inc. is available for download on the App Store for free by clicking here, however, there’s an optional in-app purchase for more levels.
