Browse The Web From Notification Center with ‘NCBrowser’
The Notification Center is a sore point among some iOS users, going through several iterations throughout the years like it’s little cousin the Control Center. While it has came a long way, there’s still so much more it could be doing. NCBrowser, by Brandon Salgado (@ImBrandDev) the developer of Login, tackles one feature that many users on Reddit have requested over the years: a fully functioning browser in the Notification Center.
NCBrowser works by adding a third tab — named Broswer — to the right of “Notifications”. You’re even able to set your homepage and bookmark your favorite site for quick access, while different options allow you to hide the Status Bar and the tabs at the top for a more immersive experience.
NCBrowser also comes with the ability to set your preferred search engine with choices being Google, Bing, Yahoo, or have it ask you when needed. Better yet, the tweak is even accessible from the Lock Screen which is kind of convenient, you can swipe down and check Reddit or order a pizza from your Notification Center all without unlocking your iPhone.
I will most likely be keeping this installed on my device for a while to see if I end up integrating it into my usual workflows and just for the neat factor. Sometimes people will ask me, “Why do you jailbreak your iPhone?” and it’s so hard to convey my reasoning to the average person but things like this make it a lot easier.
NCBrowser is available on the BigBoss repo in Cydia for $2.99. How would this fit into your workflow?
