Mobile game network Storm8 has announced the worldwide launch of Dream City: Metropolis, a different take on city-building games for mobile. In Dream City, players have the ability to create and grow the metropolis of their dreams. Featuring mountains and a picturesque coastline, Dream City offers players a whole new level of customization to build their city: from landmarks and parks to shops, boutiques and eateries. Storm8 also announced a very unique partnership with Regal Cinemas, one of the most popular theater circuits in the United States, bringing a real-world brand into Dream City. Players will later have the option of receiving in-game rewards for watching branded trailers and videos as well.
“With Dream City, we wanted to create a dynamic, approachable game that caters to both city-building fans and casual players,” said Storm8 CEO Perry Tam. “And with the Regal Cinemas integration, players can bring their cities to life with a real-world establishment. We look forward to expanding these custom integrations with more top-tier brands to allow players to build a truly authentic, personal metropolis.”
Dream City introduces players to a town originally built by great railroad tycoon, Old Man Chesterfield. After mysteriously disappearing, his city falls to ruins and players are tasked with building a new, bustling city — choosing from an array of customizable options like businesses, civic buildings, tourist attractions and landmarks.
To keep the gameplay fresh, Dream City: Metropolis will host a series of special in-game events. The first event, Citypalooza, is a large music festival, which goes live in mid-July. Citypalooza will feature an outdoor amphitheater where players can hang out with friends and complete challenges to earn special rewards and prizes. As it stands, Dream City: Metropolis is available on the App Store for free, however, there are in-app purchases.
