5th Cell, The developer of the popular ‘Scribblenauts’ games has laid off 45 of it’s current employees following publisher Warner Bro’s cancelling the production of what was to be their next game ‘Scribblenauts: Fighting Words’.
In a statement the developer said “Layoffs aren’t something we take lightly and we’d like to thank all our employees for the hard work and dedication over the years”. 5th Cell have stressed that they aren’t closing down, but are instead reshuffling their operations. The developer is assisting their former employees in finding other jobs and has asked that people interested in hiring their former employees email them.
The original ‘Scribblenauts’ was released in October 2009 on the Nintendo DS and has since seen multiple sequels to the game published to the App Store and Google Play.The premise of the games is for people to solve puzzles through the use of words. ‘Scribblenauts: Fighting Words’ was to be the next game by the by the Washington based developer until it was canceled on Tuesday.
