Niantic’s CEO John Hanke Reveals New Stats for ‘Ingress’
Niantic, developers of real-world adventure game Ingress and the upcoming Pokémon GO, has published a series of real-world stats that Ingress players have achieved in 2015. Before we dive into the data, we have to stay it’s pretty impressive some of the numbers that were achieved. In the blog post by CEO John Hanke, it highlights milestones players have reached while exploring the world around them. In addition he goes on to talk about some of the goals for the year ahead of them and what they want to achieve.
For those that are curious, here are some of the stats:
- A total of 254,184 players attended live, Niantic-organized Ingress events all around the world in 2015.
- In 2015, players collectively walked over 258,000,000 kilometers playing Ingress in over 200 countries around the world.
- Ingress has been downloaded on iOS and Android devices over 14,000,000 times since launch.
- In 2015, Ingress players have physically visited over 729,000,000 portals – real-life landmarks or points of interest.
