In addition to brand new Mercury Extreme Pro SSDs, OWC has announced availability for the 4TB Aura SSD Upgrade for the 2013 to current Apple Mac Pro. The Aura SSD is the first internal SSD upgrade for the Mac Pro and debuted at CES last year, which offered 2TB of capacity at the time. The all new 4TB model offers up to 16x the capacity of the standard factory drive and 4X the capacity of the maximum factory SSD/flash option.
The 4TB Aura SSD also sports the OWC Envoy Pro SSD enclosure, making it easy to repurpose the original factory-installed Mac Pro SSD as an elegant aluminum-body external drive for incredible portable performance. OWC also provides free how-to installation videos and a special tool needed for straightforward installation.
If you’re interested in ordering an upgrade kit, here is what it includes:
- Aura SSD for Mac Pro.
- Envoy Pro SSD enclosure for the existing factory SSD.
- Double-shielded USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 connecting cable for the Envoy Pro enclosure.
- Complete kit with everything needed for end user installation of the new drive into 2013 Mac Pro.
- 3 Year limited warranty.
By the looks of it, here’s the list of all the installation and tutorial videos. So if you’re looking to get the SSD, you may want to watch their tutorial video before you purchase it. The only downside is the cost: $2,128 for the 4TB model, $1,447 for 2TB, and $895 for 1TB.
