‘Crystal Crush Saga’ Makes Math Fun [Review]
Match three games are fun, but they’ve gotten a bit stale. What’s more, they don’t work your brain as much as a casual game can, and maybe should. Crystal Crush Saga changes that, by adding a healthy dose of math work into the matching.
The concept is simple. Each crystal has a number on it, and you can tap groups of like numbers to score points. Where Crystal Crush Saga differs, though, is that you can match multiples of numbers, too. For example, if you see a group of 2’s and 4’s on the board, you can tap one of the 4’s to eliminate all of those multiples of 2 from the playing board.
Each level is timed, so you have to think quickly and really know your multiples. This is a great way to practice your math skills, all while having fun. The graphics are gorgeous and the music is very cute and original. The game gets progressively more difficult the more you play, keeping things interesting.
If you want to replay a level and possibly get a higher score for that level, you can do so by typing in the level number. Crystal Crush Saga doesn’t waste your time with a screen of level identifiers; you just type in the number and away you go. I just wish there was an easy way to see what score I received on particular levels to decide whether or not I want to replay them.
Crystal Crush Saga is a free download on the App Store, and includes advertisements between levels. The game also includes in-app purchases to unlock the next level, unlock all levels, remove ads, or double the time available to complete each level.
