Earlier this week Calvino Noir Limited launched their first title, Calvino Noir, a mysterious stealth game inspired by the classics of film noir that’s available for the PlayStation 4, PC via Steam and lastly iOS devices. Calvino Noir takes players on a journey through the underworld of 1930s Europe with stylistic side-scrolling gameplay, a dark visual style, plus multiple paths and characters to explore.
Calvino Noir is the invention of game director Dan Walters, who designed the architecture to be authentic to the era with locales that provide an exciting gameplay atmosphere. Whether hiding in the shadows or sneaking across rooftops, players have to be aware of their surroundings.
Next came creating a stealth mechanic that allows for multiple playable characters, with each offering a different take on how the game can be played. The three protagonists differ in mindsets and how they approach situations, offering players new ways to tackle problems. Puzzles also have multiple solutions, so exploration is imperative to outsmarting the enemy.
