Appetizer Mobile and Yankee’s Manager Joe Girardi Launch ‘Portalball’
Appetizer Mobile, one of the top development agency in New York City, and New York Yankee’s Manager Joe Girardi have recently announced Portaball, the first ever sci-fi reality baseball game. Portalball is now available on iOS and Android devices with a portion of Girardi’s proceeds to benefit his charity, Catch 25.
In the game, players step into the virtual world of baseball in Portalball, a 360 degree augmented reality sci-fi baseball game for mobile devices which pairs the user with family, friends, and others all around the world in a matchup of skill and strategy. Players can also face off with Joe Girardi himself if they match up while he is online. By accumulating portal points to unlock an variety bats and balls, users can play in real-time challenges to win amazing prizes and ultimately earn the title of Worldwide MVP.
Portalball features a Practice mode allowing the user to train throwing, batting, and hitting skills in a single player time trial mode. From there, portals open up in a 360 degree reality playing field where the user must track progressively faster opening portals by radar. Then players must throw, catch or hit incoming balls back into the portals.
The Multiplayer mode creates a person avatar, by which you earn or purchase upgraded equipment and select an opponent by viewing players around you. The rule is that each player has one round to pitch, hit and catch before the scores are tallied. When going head-to-head, players take turns pitching, batting, and catching through various portals. Your opponent must locate the portals on the radar and hit the balls back into the portals. Players can cycle through their unique lineup of special bats and balls strategically selecting the highest scoring combinations.
