Ever Wanted to See The Typing Indicator From Anywhere on Your Device? There’s a Tweak for That.
Have you ever wanted to see when someone was typing to you no matter what app you’re in? Well look no further as TypeStatus from HASHBANG Productions is exactly what you’re looking for plus a little more! As seen in the image above, you can set TypeStatus to be an overlay in the status bar area, or just as a less intrusive chat-style bubble with a small ellipsis in it.
Originally an idea by famous Apple blogger Jehf Benjamin of iDownloadBlog, this tweak has been around since iOS 6 and has been a beloved favorite with jailbreakers since it’s release. As amazing as it is, it’s actually free despite being updated for multiple iterations of iOS and sporting a feature set that some paid tweaks cannot claim. Additionally, can also overlay Read Receipts if the recipient of your iMessage has them enabled instead of a typing indicator.
Starting out as a tweak for jailbroken iPhones, it has moved to the Mac as well. I’ve been using it for years and couldn’t imagine using my iPhone or Mac without it. It’s one of the first things that I install after a jailbreak if it’s been updated, which it usually is.
Head on over to Cydia and install it from the BigBoss repo if you think it might be useful to you.
