Developer Adam Bell has been on a roll as of late. He showed us native applications on the Apple Watch and now he has hacked iOS 9’s “Picture In Picture” mode to run apps. The feature allows iPad users to detach videos from Safari and various third-party apps to view them even if the user has left the application.
Bell has taken this a step further by digging deep into iOS 9’s APIs. The result? This:
Demonstrated by the video above, Bell is playing the game Doom, on top of the Clock app running full screen behind it. Some users have disputed the video, noting that Bell is simply playing a video. Though, as seen in the video, Bell is actually interacting with the game rather than showing a static menu, for example.
