On Monday, Apple published their 2015 Environmental Responsibility Report and a video dubbed “Better Starts Here” to start with it.
“We don’t want to debate climate change,” the company says. “We want to stop it.” Both the video and the Environmental Responsibility Report goes over renewable energy, climate change, and forest preservation. Apple also goes over its plan to reduce the amount of toxins in its products, and to preserve its resources in its supply chains, data centers and solar power plants.
“We’ve made real progress in reducing the impact of the things we control directly — our offices, retail stores, and products,” the report reads. “But there’s still a lot of work to be done to reduce the carbon footprint of our supply chain. And it’s our responsibility to lead that effort.”
All of Apple’s resources in the United States, and 87% globally is now running on renewable resources. Apple’s currently focusing on three key aspects:
- Reduce their impact on climate change by using renewable energy sources and driving energy efficiency in products.
- Conserve precious resources.
- Pioneer the use of greener materials in their products and processes.
Here’s the video.
As part of Apple’s plan to “leave the world better than we found it”, they have teamed up with solar power provider SunPower Corporation to work on two solar power plants in China, making it SunPower’s first international partnership with the Mac maker.
