Spiderweb Software, makers of the Geneforge and Avadon series, are bringing the second part of the hit Avernum saga to iOS devices next month. Avernum 2: Crystal Souls is an epic fantasy role-playing adventure game set in a unique, massive world, full of caves, dungeons, and the alien inhabitants. Players must fight to complete up to three game-winning quests and explore a massive nation of tunnels plus caverns, including over 100 towns and dungeons. There’s also 60+ spells and battle disciplines to learn, while players can also search for hundreds of magical artifacts as well. To clear up some confusion as well, we were also told that Avernum 2: Crystal Souls is a total rewrite from the ground-up of the award-winning game Avernum 2.
For those who may not like in-app purchases, we’ve also got some good news. Avernum 2: Crystal Souls will be a pay-once-and-play game, so there will be no pesky micro-transactions to deal with. Additionally, the game will be available on iPad devices next month on April 15th, while the Mac and PC are already available to download here. If we had to take a guess, the iPad game will be a direct port of the desktop version, but optimized for touch screen devices.
As of now this is all the information we have on hand, however, we’ll keep you updated like usual.
