Mobile Mesh Games, a mobile game startup from Whitewater, WI, has recently started development on their very first game with help from a local university, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. The developers are offering internships in various positions for the development of their first mobile title, giving opportunities to Media Arts & Game Development students at the college. From what we were told, the game is set to release sometime in Q1 2015.
The collaboration and communication between the company and the school has provided great opportunities for students to gain experience in game development. In late 2014, there were six students that signed on to work with Mobile Mesh Games, and more student internships are to come in 2015.
Brandon Korth, the Project Management Intern at Mobile Mesh Games, has spoken about the effectiveness of the experience. “It’s been such a different process because we’ve had to learn so many different things that aren’t taught in our classes. Interaction and communication is much different in a professional setting. Working with Mobile Mesh Games has given me an insight into what game development will be like after I graduate, and that’s a really valuable experience for students to have.”
With this being such a unique and special opportunity, we will keep tabs with Mobile Mesh Games to see how their internship program continues as well as the progress of their first game.
