Twitch Live Stream Integration and More Coming to ‘Asphalt 8: Airborne’ in a Future Update
In a first ever partnership, Twitch and Gameloft have officially teamed up to bring Twitch’s live in-game streaming functionality through an upcoming update to their popular iOS title, Asphalt 8: Airborne. Published by Gameloft, Asphalt 8: Airborne is an award-winning iOS arcade racing game where players play against the A.I. or real world players while executing high-speed aerial stunts. In addition to broadcasting gameplay to the player’s Twitch channel, Asphalt 8: Airborne‘s Twitch integration also features the ability to stream your voice and image using the microphone and front-facing camera. Players can also archive their streams, share them on the Web, or view streams from others who are playing the game as well. Just before you thought the upcoming update couldn’t get any better, we are told that there will also be a brand new location with six additional tracks, four new cars to choose from as well as 30 new events. Accompanying the update’s announcement, Gameloft has also released a trailer showing off the new cars and racing location that can be seen below.
Here is the full list of what’s coming in the new update:
- New location: Race through the gorgeous new Asian inspired location, The Great Wall, which will offer 6 new tracks.
- New cars: The 2014 McLaren P1, Ferrari Testarossa, Dodge Challenger and the 2014 Ford F-150.
- New career events: 30 new events across all 8 seasons.
- New UI: A completely redesigned main menu for a more streamlined experience.
“This first-ever mobile game integration with Twitch opens the door for gamers to broadcast and share game play experiences like never before,” said Baudouin Corman, VP of Publishing for the Americas, Gameloft. “As one of our most popular games, Asphalt 8: Airborne made perfect sense to integrate the Twitch mobile SDK, and we can’t wait to see the excitement it brings to our users.”
As of now there’s no word on a release date, so we’ll keep a close eye on the game and any further developments. Next week during MacWorld we will be hanging out with Gameloft for a brief period of time, maybe then we’ll receive additional information or even a quick in-person demo of the update and report back on it.
