‘MemoZy’ Review
Productivity isn’t my strongest point — the lure of procrastination guides me off-course, into the depths of trash TV and online fail videos. It wasn’t until I found MemoZy that I could fully enhance how I handled my work. It’s a Thursday afternoon and I’m at work. My colleagues sit at their computers, tapping away, forming important emails. I’m sitting at mine, not preparing for one of the most important meetings of my life — tomorrow. I take out my phone, to the dismay of my coworkers — but today I won’t be flying birds into pigs, instead, I will be organizing the better part of my day.
MemoZy is a new productivity application designed to help people like me and works like an all-in-one to-do list. I’ve been using it to keep track of my life activities, for both work and play, and today I will be expressing some of my views of MemoZy. Upon opening the app, you can clearly understand how simplicity can work so well for an app like this. There is nothing that can distract me, confuse me or capture my attention (apart from my urgent tasks). Instantly, I can start adding things to do, such as finishing my PowerPoint and emailing it to the tech guys.
Everything is placed neatly into groups, you can name your own and create as many as you’d like. I made my Work group large, so that I could see it whenever I opened the app. Next to the box is a small speech bubble, containing an number – in my case, the integer in my Urgent group was 8, indicating that I had 8 tasks left to do.
It takes just a swipe to remove a task and doing so fills me with pride and a sense of success… could this be an intentional move, deployed by the developer — who knows? I can say one thing for certain: my meeting was a success and I owe that to MemoZy for keeping me productive. By the end of the week, I had four categories — one for work, one for home, one for general reminders and another for people I needed to hang out with — that’s a healthy balance of life and it’s also a productive balance of life.
Okay, so I did fiddle a bit, playing with the theme options but I can safely say that MemoZy will keep you productive and it will keep you on track. As you can be bothered to actually write your tasks down. Soon I was adjusted to the different gestures: swipe left, right, up or down to create a group, swipe down to create a task and so on and so forth. One of my coworkers even downloaded the app, specifically to take notes in my meeting and I thought that was pretty inspirational.
So, what can I say? Essentially, I think that MemoZy is everything that a to-do list should be and nothing that it shouldn’t be. It’s simple yet effective, beautiful yet not distracting… in other words: it’s nearly perfect.
