Do you have what it takes to be the Royal Envoy? [Review]
Today we have a double feature — Royal Envoy HD and Royal Envoy 2 HD from Playrix Entertainment. If you enjoy time management, strategy and building type games, then you should give them a try. I am playing the iPad versions of the games but there are iPhone versions of the game and both free and paid versions. My recommendation is to try the free version and if you like it, then upgrade.
Both games, Royal Envoy HD and Royal Envoy 2 HD are built on the same general story line. The king has put you in charge of helping rebuild the kingdom. In Royal Envoy HD, you must travel from island to island to rebuild the villages and cities which have been ravaged by nature. You will go to such place as Palm Island, Pirate Island, Swamp Island, Island of the Mountain Rivers and so on.
On each island there will be certain villages you will travel to, they must be played in order and you must be successful to move on. Overall there are 63 levels or locations you must visit, so yes this game will take some time. In Royal Envoy 2 HD you will travel to Middleshire and then visit various locations there such as Marshy Lowlands, Foothills, Eastern Arctic, Valley of the Nymphs and so on. Overall there are 93 locations to visit and over 60 achievements.
Each game allows for multiple profiles, adventure levels (standard game), bonus levels (bought via in-app payments) and achievements via Game Center. The graphics in both games are great and game play is very smooth and enjoyable. They definitely look nice on the iPad.
There is a general story line but the goal in each level is the same — complete your set of tasks. Now to be sweeten the deal, if you can finish them before the timer on the left, you will get bonus points and earn more stars on each level. In the levels you will need to build, repair or upgrade homes, build banks, markets or sawmills and maintain the happiness levels. You are given two types of workers — builders or tax collectors. As you build homes, they will produce money which the tax collectors get. This money can then be used to build, repair or upgrade, You will need wood also to build so make sure you do not forget the sawmill.
These games are a lot more fun than I expected. If you want to try and beat the clock you need to be on your toes and makes sure every move you do is the correct one — there is very little room for error, when dealing with the clock. I have replayed many levels to try and improve my score! Everyone in the family is enjoying this game. Going through and trying to figure out what needs to be done to fulfill the tasks is step one and then step two to is optimizing your moves to get the best score. Between both games there are over 150 levels so there is a ton to do.
Royal Envoy is definitely for those that like a challenge. So do you think you can help the king build the kingdom?
