To celebrate this success, a competition among users has been organized with winners positioned to receive valuable in-game prizes. The game entered into the top 5 best games and apps in the App Store for the USA and into the top 5 best strategies in 92 countries after only a few weeks of its release in January 2013. With the addition of its online multiplayer mode in May, in less than two weeks Mushroom Wars experienced a further surge in popularity leading to over one million downloads worldwide.
