iOS 7: Redeem iTunes Card via iPhone Camera
On Monday at WWDC Apple unveiled many things, in particular iOS 7. iOS 7 has brought many noticeable features such as Control Center, improved Siri and a lot more with the most obvious being the complete UI redesign. Many people believed the “flat theme” was very nice on Apple’s part, but some people including me, were disappointed with the childish redesign. Some of the icons just don’t go with each other, they would look decent if they all the icons went with each other.
Anyways, with developers testing iOS 7 a new feature was “discovered” recently. According to AppleInsider, users can now go to Redeem in the App Store and instead of manually entering in the code, you have the choice of scanning the code with the camera and the balance will automatically be added to the iTunes account.
As you can see in the picture taken by Beau Giles, the App Store recognized the card with the camera. We have seen this type of feature from Apple before, in November 2012, Mac users with iTunes 11 were able to use the iSight camera to capture an image of the iTunes code and the balance would be added to the account. This feature in iOS 7 is definitely convenient, especially because you will not have to worry about mistyping the code.
