‘Mini Ninjas’ – An Endless Ninja-ing Adventure [Review]
Mini Ninjas is an endless runner game, requiring you to jump and slash your way through a never ending lineup of bad dudes. The game is a 2D platformer based on IOs Mini Ninjas Adventures. There is a slightly cute and family-fun angle to the game, where you never actually “kill” anything per se, you simply free animals hidden under their bad ninja guise.
While fun, Mini Ninjas suffers from the same problem as most endless runners, it can get old fast. To add a little longevity to the game, they’ve added achievements and upgrades, which help a little, but are really just band-aids. If you’ve played Jetpack Joyride, you’ll notice some shocking similarities, almost as if the developers have taken the term “know you’re competition” far too literally.
If you hate the endless runner genre, you should probably just steer clear of this game. It’s not that the game is bad, in fact it’s not bad at all, but with so much competition, the game is lacking. Furthermore, the game costs $0.99. Sure it’s not much, but it’s $0.99 more than what it should be. Even more surprising is that it’s produced by Square Enix. Square Enix is responsible for Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, and a lot more… then there’s this game. “Disappointed” is the word that comes to mind.
