‘World of Aircraft’ [iPad Game Review]
Want to try your hand at flying? Then you need to try World of Aircraft from WhiteBigRabbit. This is game is currently on sale for $0.99 and it is worth a dollar, plus this is a fun MMO dog-fighting game that works well on the iPhone or iPad. Since this is a MMO, you will need to setup a free account then once you do that you will be asked to do the tutorial. The controls on the game are very simple, which is one thing I really appreciate in the game. You use the left side of screen to steer and the right side to shoot. I played the game on the iPad Mini and it worked and looked awesome.
After the tutorial, there are four sections you will see in the game:
- Battlefield-where you get your missions.
- Airfield-where you can upgrade your plan.
- Tutorial-where you can redo it at anytime.
- Log out.
As you complete missions, you will earn coins and experience. The experience is represented by a medal under your name and in addition to coins, there are blue gems. You can purchase both coins and blue gems with real money. The gems can be used to give you more options within the upgrades. In addition that that, you can purchase different planes with your experience points and then use coins and gems to upgrade them. I counted about 30 different planes you can purchase and the developer recommends upgrading planes vs. buying lots of different ones.
Within the battlefield section there are four choices:
- Mission – play against the computer at different locations around the globe.
- 1vs1 – play against others.
- Deathmatch – a free for all battle, the last man standing wins.
- Team Fight – setup a team and battle others online.
With any of the MMO options you can either host or join a fight. The graphics in the game are fantastic and when I am playing I just want to fly around and enjoy the scenery! Unfortunately there are folks shooting at you and when the mission is complete there is no time to just fly around. One funny thing about the app is the English — the developers need to hire someone who know English and can spell. Thankfully, this can easily be fixed in an update but really does not effect gameplay.
So if you are looking for a cool dog-fighting app, then World of Aircraft is a no-brainer. The graphics are great, the controls are straightforward and you can play against the computer or others online so it has a lot going for it. I picked up the game for only $0.99 but would I pay more for it? Probably not. I enjoyed the game but it would be neat to see some different missions and/or a story line to follow, in addition to the online playing aspect.
