HyperJuice Plug 10,400 mAh Battery Pack Review!
Last month PocketFullOfApps went to the highly anticipated MacWorld 2013 conference in San Francisco to check out some of the upcoming products, apps, software and listen to some of the Tech Talks. If you’ve ever visited MacWorld or an event similar to that, it’s always helpful to take a spare battery pack or battery case for whatever iOS devices you may be taking along with you. Well if you happen to go next year, GDC this year, or even another Apple/iOS conference, we highly recommend you take a HyperJuice Plug (to be specific the 10,400 mAh edition which we will be reviewing right now). Going on a vacation sometime this year and got a long road trip ahead of you? You may also want to check this out.
So, let’s start off with the basics. The HyperJuice Plug 10,400 mAh edition is one serious beast when it comes to charging multiple iOS devices without any hassle. In fact, you can charge two (yes, two!) iPads simultaneously without any problems. It doesn’t even stop there though — you can even charge two iPhones at the same time or even one iPad and one iPhone if you so please. With the ability to charge multiple devices at the same time, the HyperJuice Plug has a really awesome feature — it can intelligently distribute the power output among the devices for optimal efficiency. Here’s a quick chart:
Connected Devices | USB Port 1 | USB Port 2 |
2 iPhones/smartphones | 5W (5V, 1A) | 5W (5V, 1A) |
1 iPad/tablet and 1 iPhone/smartphone | 10W (5V, 2.1A) | 5W (5V, 1A) |
2 iPads/tablet | 7.5W (5V, 1.5A) | 7.5W (5V, 1.5A) |
But just how many hours will the HyperJuice Plug extend that battery on your iPad or iPhone? Well, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. For the new iPad (3rd and 4th generation) you can expect to the HyperJuice Plug 10,400 mAh to boost the battery life by 9 hours while the iPad 2nd generation will get a 15 hour boost. As for the iPhone on the other hand, you’ll be able to fully recharge it up to seven times with no problems.
This isn’t just your standard, run-of-the-mill type battery pack — the folks over at HyperJuice have invested lots of time into making this a very nice, quality product. The HyperJuice Plug comes with a 1 year limited warranty, a built-in short circuit to prevent overheating/overcharging, military grade battery cells, plus a built-in retractable wall plug that’s super helpful and convenient. If you’re worried about the HyperJuice Plug adding a lot of weight to your luggage or backpack, well no need to worry about that either — it weighs in just under one pound at 12.7 oz. Not sure about how much juice is left in your HyperJuice Plug if you get one? No worries — the HyperJuice Plug comes with a five light indicator to show you how much juice is left simply by pressing a button.
Now that we’ve covered this much, it’s time to talk about the price. To start off with, the HyperJuice Plug 10,400 mAh comes in six different colors (pink, gold, blue, green, silver, black) and costs $129.95. On the other hand if you need some extra power while on the go, there’s the HyperJuice Plug 15,600 mAh edition that comes in the same six colors but will cost you $159.95. So, should you get the HyperJuice Plug (either the 10,400 mA or 15,600 mAh edition)? Absolutely. The HyperJuice Plug is the perfect solution for your backup battery needs if you’re planning to going to a conference, got a long car trip a head of you, or anything else you can think of. It’s durable, nice looking, and won’t let you down.
