Harvard Students Turn Class Project into ‘TrivPals’
Harvard-founded TrivPals LLC have announced the launch of their iOS application, TrivPals, which brings friendly competition to trivia. In a mobile battle of wits, pals race against the clock in fun, intense duels to see who’s smarter.
TrivPals is a free mobile trivia game connecting real friends who take turns answering as many questions as possible in three one-minute rounds. The app features more than 25,000 questions in various categories such as Blast from the Past (history), Picture Perfect (arts), and Ball’s In Your Court (sports). During each round, players can eliminate answers when stumped, freeze the clock for more time, or earn extra points for answering multiple questions in a row.
Born over pizza in the Harvard Innovation Lab, TrivPals grew from Harvard Business School’s FIELD curriculum, in which first-year MBA student teams launch microbusinesses. After a second-place finish among 150 teams, the TrivPals founders spent a busy summer moonlighting during full-time internships to develop and design the TrivPals app for official launch. The TrivPals team consists of a former game developer, farm manager, and social entrepreneur — all current members of the HBS Class of 2013 and all trivia fans.
TrivPals is now available for free to download on iOS and requires a Facebook account.
