‘Photopoll’ iPhone App for Social Voting
Do you remember when you first created a Facebook profile and you learned how to tag pictures? Although none of us can really explain why, there was something that was additively fun about posting up a picture and then tagging other individuals so that it would come up on their own profile page too.
Then, when we were able to “Like” a posting, that made it all the more fun. Suddenly, it wasn’t enough for us to simply take a couple of pictures and display them for people to look at. Now we were putting up graduation pictures and childhood photographs, basically anything that we could to garner a response.
If you have fond memories of doing that and you are an iPhone user, then you are about to go from experiencing blissful feelings of nostalgia to totally being overjoyed. That’s because TenFarms recently announced an app called Photopoll.
What Photopoll does is provide iPhone and iPod users with the capability of grouping together photographs and then sharing them in a feed so that viewers are able to, yes, poll them. Basically, what you’ll be able to do is pick 2-5 pictures from your own device, Instagram or Amazon and then post them into a central feed where your family members and friends can then vote for which ones they like (or don’t like) most.
One reason why Photopoll is different from other apps with a similar focus is that they allow you to post more pictures at one time than all of the other ones. So, rather than putting up one or two, you can actually create your own kind of photo slide show (of sorts) where your pictures can be more than something for people to merely glance at; they can actually be used to tell a story that you may want to convey.
There’s another fun element about this app. Suppose that you are out shopping for an outfit for your first date and you’re not sure what to wear? You can take five pictures in different kinds of looks and then post them up for people to vote on what they think you look best in. When you start looking at Photopoll from that perspective, there are all kinds of ways that you can use it; ones that can make interacting and even decision-making much quicker and easier.
This is a part of the reason why TenFarms came up with this particular invention. According to Nils Forsblom, the founder and CEO of the company, Photopoll is not just about providing another way to network socially in a casual way. It can also prove to be beneficial for businesses too. For instance, when you’re on the road and you see an idea that could be professionally beneficial, now all you have to do is use Photopoll to get some of your staff’s immediate insights.
So, in the midst of all of the competition between iPhones and Androids, if you have an iPhone and you’ve been thinking “I think I’m going to sell my iPhone 4 for an Android” perhaps this will make you reconsider.
A picture, especially when it’s sent to numerous people simultaneously, is worth a thousand words, after all.
