Why Every Small Business Needs ‘OmniFocus’
For many small business owners, staying on top of all the little things while working towards larger goals can be problematic. Even if you have years of experience under your belt in the corporate world and you’re well-prepared to run your own business in theory, the day-to-day operations could run you ragged once you find yourself wearing the many hats that a small business owner must don to keep the doors open on an independent operation. You have neither the budget nor the specialized employees that came with your former corporate job, and the result is that everyone in your organization will find themselves doing multiple jobs, you included. And if you want to make sure that every task receives due attention and nothing slips through the cracks, then you need to download the OmniFocus app for your iPhone.
At $19.99 this app is a lot pricier than most you’re probably used to downloading, but with the recent posting of the optimized version for iPad, the cost of the iPhone version was actually cut in half (it used to be $39.99, just like the newer version). So you can currently get all the functionality of the original for a lot less than what others have paid before you. And while you could certainly shell out more for the iPad version, the truth is that the two are similar enough that it’s probably worth taking the savings and opting for the iPhone version at this point. In any case, you may be wondering just what makes this app so amazing that you’d want to shell out twenty bucks, much less forty, for the download.
The most basic description of this app is that it’s a task manager. But if you’re familiar with other applications of this nature, you may still be curious about the rather steep price point. This is not your average grocery list kind of app. It allows you to flawlessly integrate all the tasks associated with your business, including projects, calendars, and more. You’ll start simply enough by creating goals for your small business. These could be short-term, like finishing specific projects, or long-term, like bringing in clients, establishing an online presence to grow your brand, or paying off your startup loans. For each goal you will begin creating projects that will help you to reach it. Within each project you can create tasks complete with dates and times that will appear on your calendar. You can also and notes, images, and video/audio recordings as needed. And you can even assign locations to tasks so that they appear on a map; the app will let you know if multiple tasks appear in proximity so that you can effectively kill two birds with one stone.
You will receive reminder notifications to keep you on task, you can sync up with OmniFocus on other devices to share information, and you can even tell Siri to add or edit tasks when you’re working in hands-free mode from the car during a commute. When this app first launched in the iTunes store, it was dubbed the Best Productivity App by Apple. Since then it has only improved in its functionality so that now it is a must-have for every New York City caterer, Tampa business broker, and Hollywood agent trying to get a complex job done. So if you happen to own a small business, don’t hesitate to download the OnmiFocus app and gain the peace of mind that comes with knowing you’ve got a handle on every detail.
