Give your iPhone a helping ‘Feinger’
If you’ve been paying attention to our Twitter feed (@pocketfullofapp) we hinted at an upcoming review/preview for a new iPhone accessory called “the Feinger“. Well here it is! Right from the beginning, this accessory isn’t your typical mount you place on the dashboard of your car and that’s the end of it. With the Feinger you can take it virtually anywhere, all you need is a flat surface and a uni-mount for you place your iPhone or iPod. But wait, it doesn’t even come close to stopping there. In addition to the uni-mount, you have the option of purchasing the actual Feinger (the green piece in the picture to the right) which allows you to have your iPhone at your fingertips at any given time while minimizing fatal drops. One of the nice things about the actual Feinger attachment is it comes in different sizes (small/medium/large) to adjust to the correct size of your finger and fit just right. If that doesn’t sound too appealing to you, the developers of the Feinger have also made a lanyard to attach if you’d like to. According to the folks over at the Feinger, the lanyard attachment can withstand 15 PSI of pressure before detaching. Personally, I had no problems with the lanyard attachment — I was able to fling it around in circles with out the fear of it detaching.
Still not convinced? Say you’re sitting at the computer browsing the web or working, well the Feinger also doubles as a stand both in landscape and portrait mode allowing you to easily check who may be texting you or whatever else you may like. While using it as a stand, it would also make a handy alarm clock to wake you up bright and early in the morning.
Honestly though, the Feinger isn’t even limited to just the iPhone, iPad, or any other Apple products. If you had a Nintendo DS or any other handheld device, this would make a perfect accessory for it as well. The only minor downside to the Feinger is removing the sticky adhesive part you place on your device that I had some trouble taking off (I eventually resorted to prying it off with a fork). UPDATE: All you need to do is use a piece of dental floss and slide it underneath the adhesive and it will take it off very easily. So, I would recommend placing it on a case to prevent any damage to your iPhone or other mobile device.
All in all though, the Feinger is a fantastic product that should’ve been developed many years ago, however, the guys behind this product have struck gold. It’s simple, easy to use, portable, and can be used virtually anywhere to your liking. If you can pony up the small fee I would highly suggest you buy it — either for yourself or as a birthday gift or Christmas present for a friend or family member. Plus, while you’re filling your pocket full of apps (pun intended), this doesn’t add too much bulk depending upon which attachment you use. Is it worth buying? Yes. So, why don’t you give your iPhone a helping Feinger.
The Feinger costs $15.95 and you can see all the different accessories here.
