‘Super Meat Boy’ in Development for iOS!
Apple users rejoice: Team Meat announced on their blog over the weekend that they’re developing an app for their widely popular indie game, Super Meat Boy in which a little ball of hamburger meat must travel a world chock full of saws, knives, needles and other terrifying obstacles. With more than million copies sold, it’s distracted enough people from their responsibilities that it’s time to take that distraction and make it portable. And it won’t suck, they promise.
In its earliest development phases, Super Meat Boy is getting a whole new look to be an app. Team Meat decided against making it a port of the original game with buttons on the screen and are opting instead to rebuild the game from ground up. Doing so will improve quality and make the game more iOS user-friendly and may even come with new art, backgrounds, obstacles, music and levels. Team Meat plans for Super Meat Boy to be touch-screen compatible so nothing is blocked from the players’ view with annoying on-screen controls. Though because this app is only in its development phase, don’t expect to see it on the app markets anytime soon.
Add this app to the millions of others and phones today are not just phones. Even the way we make calls is going to completely change with VOIP service and apps. You no longer need the same kind of connection to call your friends and family across the country on a cell phone or a home landline. VOIP means voice over internet protocol and it uses the internet to transmit data, like your voice, instead of using the traditional circuits. VOIP opens a whole new world of possibility when it comes to making phone calls because distance doesn’t matter and you can use VOIP services much like any other phone service. You can send calls to voicemail, you can email yourself a voicemail and listen to the message on your computer. Landlines were already becoming an outdated household necessity and with VOIP service, people will no longer need home phone plans. VOIP is a much cheaper way to stay in touch with people all over the world since it uses the internet.
VOIP services are also making minute plans a thing of the past. There are several iOS compatible VOIP apps you can download and most VOIP apps run smoothly in the background and won’t interrupt your use of any other of your phone functions, like playing Super Meat Boy when the app is available. You can use VOIP apps with other users who have the same apps or simply call other phone lines without using up your minutes.
While we wait for the much-anticipated Super Meat Boy to hit the market, there’s plenty of time to prepare your phone for the rage-inducing game as many users have reported side effects to playing SMB such as sudden, uncontrollable anger, the urge to throw inanimate objects like controllers and the desire to punch friends sitting in close proximity. Soon enough, the little ball of hamburger will be frustrating you right from your iPhone.
