How to: Rename Your iOS Device
So, you just set up your brand new iPhone 4S through iTunes, synced it with iCloud, loaded all your apps and music on to it and you decide you want to change the name of your device. Well, thankfully there’s a couple of different was of doing this.
Right from your Device
First off, if you don’t have access to iTunes at the moment or simply don’t feel like connecting to Tunes, in iOS 5 there’s the option to change your device’s name right from the Settings app by following the steps below.
- Open up the Settings app.
- Tap on “General”.
- Then tap on “About”.
- At the very top, you should see “Name”, tap on that.
- Then edit your device’s name!
Via iTunes
Alright, so you got your iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad connected to iTunes and want to change the name of your device. This method is easier and quick the the previous by far, but still gets the job done.
- Click on your device under the “Devices” section on the right sidebar of iTunes.
- Once your device is highlighted, double click on the current name on the sidebar which will allow you to edit the name.
