How to: Put Newsstand in a Folder
With the release of iOS 5, the new software has brought along a nice little virtual newsstand that allows you to read magazines that can be downloaded via the App Store. However not everyone is going to utilize Newsstand and may want to store it away somewhere in a folder freeing up space on the homescreen. As of now iOS 5 won’t allow you to tuck it away in a folder, however, there’s a simple yet effective work around for this (bonus: it doesn’t require jailbreaking!). Continuing on though, follow the steps below to put Newsstand in a folder:
- Take two apps (or games) and create a folder with them.
- While the second the apps/games are in the folder and doing the typical folder creation animation, drag Newsstand into the folder.
- If you’re quick enough, newsstand should go into the folder!
As a side note, if you do open up Newsstand, it will cause the Springboard (homescreen) to crash thus making it restart. If you do end up wanting to use Newsstand, simple drag it back into the screen and it’ll work when you go to open it up. Enjoy!
