Rapid Recap: ‘The Impossible Game’ [Review]
The Impossible Game was originally an Xbox Live Arcade game and has been out on iOS for a while now, but as you can tell, this game like the title suggests, is very hard.
Graphics
The graphics in The Impossible Game are very basic as you can tell from the screenshots below. It use 3 shapes in the entire game and you are a bright orange little square and you must jump on top off or over spikes and black squares. There is a different colored background for every level and may change mid level, however, it’s not random. While the game does look pretty basic, it’s alright because everything else this game has to offer makes up for it.
Gameplay
The gameplay in The Impossible Game has you jumping (and you can keep jumping if it is needed) over spikes and bouncing on blocks. The game is very easy to pick up yet very hard to master (of course) and comes with 2 levels. Between these two levels, they will have you busy for hours but if desired you can buy 2 more for $0.99. As for these 2 extra levels, I suggest buying the 2 levels because if you get stuck at a part in one of the levels you can move onto another one. The gameplay gets repetitive and by the time you beat one of the four levels, it will be etched into your brain for a long time. It’s very addictive so you will be playing for a while.
User Interface
The menus in The Impossible Game are easy to navigate through and appealing to the eyes. When in game there is only one control — tap anywhere on the screen to jump. Nice, easy, and simple. Your eyes can always be focused on the action.
Sound
The sound in The Impossible Game is a mix of electronic and dance it seems. The obstacles in the game are synced with the music so you could play the game blindfolded, so it will be etched into your brain just like the gameplay as well. Just maybe, you’ll find yourself humming it at some point.
Verdict 4/5
If you want a game that you’ll spend hours on, this is the game for you. With its addicting soundtrack, great gameplay, and addictiveness, this is quite the package for $0.99. I also suggest you drop another $0.99 for the extra maps, but regardless you’ll love this game if you like these type of games.
