Video: 3D iPad Tech Demo!
Looks like the Nintendo 3DS may have a competitor sometime here in the near future…just maybe. But anyway, Jeremie Francone and Laurence Nigay from the Laboratory of Informatics of Grenoble at the EHCI Research Group have created one of the most cool, amazing, and absolutely awesome tech demos for the iPad — which truly shows off what the iPad is capable of. They have combined the iPad 2’s front facing camera along with head-tracking technology that creates a glasses-free 3D experience that doesn’t need the accelerometer — just like the Nintendo 3DS does.
We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera.
Anyway, you can see the pretty cool video below after the break.
