Top 5 (Free) Jailbreak Tweaks/Tools
When you jailbreak your iOS device you open up a whole new world of apps and tweaks that can take a long time to search through and even get half way through. So, to help you out if you just jailbroke your iDevice and looking for some great tweaks to get you started and just to give you a little taste of what you can really do, here are the top 5 free jailbreak apps/tweaks you should get immediately.
Winterboard
When everyone thinks of jailbreaking your iDevice, generally the first thing that pops into their head is, “Themes and customizing the homescreen/lockscreen.” But to do that, you need Winterbaord that allows you to customize your homescreen, lockscreen, and even UI Images all with the tap of a button. Another great feature is that you can download more themes from Cydia to tweak your iDevice. Depending upon which device you have, you can downland themes built for the Retina Display as well. Here’s a screenshots of what my iPod Touch 4G’s theme looks like:
SBSettings
SBSettings is by far the one of the most essential tweak/app when you jailbreak your iDevice. What exactly does SBSettings do? Well, it gives you quick access to various settings on your device all with one swipe and doesn’t need you to close out of the current app you are using. It’s super helpful and you can even download themes for SBSettings along with other toggles for various system settings and such.
OpenSSH
Another great advantage to jailbreaking your device is full remote access to all the files on your device. One of the ways to do this is through a special transfer protocol–SSH (Secure Shell)– through a FTP or SSH program on your Mac or PC. To activate SSH on your iDevice, you need to install OpenSSH that runs in the background and in addition to that, there is a toggle in SBSetting you can use to turn it off or on.
iFile
In addition to OpenSSH, another way to get access to the files on your device is through iFile which is an actual application, not a program that runs in the background like OpenSSH. iFile includes a number of features and comes in a paid version as well if you would like to unlock more features. The only downside to iFile is the fact that you can’t necessarily transfer files to and from your device as easy compared to the OpenSSH method, however, iFile gets the job done.
FakeClockUp
FakeClockUp is not exactly what you think it is, however, it’s still an amazing tweak for your iDevice. How FakeClockUp works by speeding up the GUI elements or accelerate the speed of the animations, such as,the unlock animation, multitasking transitions, edit-mode icon wobble, spinning progress wheel, Safari transitions, and such. You can make accelerate the animations up to x10 while in the opposite direction to 1/10th. FakeClockUp is and available in Cydia for free, and to Install the tweak add the following repo to your Cydia sources: http://hitoriblog.com/apt/ and than download the package named FakeClockUp.
