Video: iPod Nano 6G Hacked, Games and more to Come?
MacStories reports that developer James Whelton apparently has been able to break through the sixth generation iPod Nano’s “cache comparison” system to install unofficially supported apps. James Whelton proved the concept in the video below by demonstrating the ability to remove apps off the iPod Nano, however, this doesn’t seem spectacular to me at least. Now the possibility of apps, videos, games, and more on the latest iPod Nano could be possible one day is what sounds spectacular to me.
From James Whelton:
Next is the discovery in some of the device’s plists of reference to support of Movies, TV Shows, Apps, Games, vCards, Calender events and so on, with a few other cool things like a passcode lock. With the bypass I figured out, I hope to enable these pretty soon. It seems like the OS is a rehashed version of the previous Nano’s OS.
Apparently, the details on how to bypass the iPod Nano’s OS and such will be posted in the next days, so, stay tuned.
