‘Chopper 2’ Review
Everyone has wanted to fly in a chopper at some point in their life. And Chopper 2 allows you to do so without having to leave the ground (good news to those with acrophobia). Great graphics, easy controls, and the epic iPhone-as-a-controller (term coined by Gizmodo) feature combines to make an awesome game!
Graphics 8/10
The graphics in Chopper 2 are great! But it has some downfalls. 3D graphics really give the game some depth, despite having sidescrolling gameplay. Environments range from grassy plains to a city skyline. And even these environments have some diversity to them. One level your flying your mission on a sunny day at the grassy plains, and the next your flying through heavy rains. The enviroment has great graphics. But there’s a downside. When it comes to the vehicle models, things tend to look blocky, especially the tanks. But the environments make that forgiveable, so four out of five here.
Gameplay 10/10
The gameplay is where Chopper 2 really shines. Much of the gameplay is tilt-controlled, although there is an option for a v-stick. Depending on how your Y-axis is set, you tilt your device to climb, lower, and move forward as well as backwards. While multi-touch controls your guns, bombs, and missiles. Missions are so diverse your never bored in this game. You can be transporting operatives to their objectives and watching their back while they’re doing your job. Or you can be taking out whole armies. Either way, missions are easy enough to get through, hard enough to be a challenge, and absolutely fun. So five out of five. But wait! What about “remote control”? Well controls are the same with remote control, but you get to see all the eye candy without your grubby fingers all over the screen. So basically, it’s waaaaaay better than playing with a stand-alone device.
Sound 10/10
As with all games, you can’t really appreciate sound without using earphones. And having done so, I can say with confidence that the sound is wonderful. Stereo sound enhances the experience by just enough to make this great game awesome! Five out of five well deserved.
Replayability 6/10
The game will have you hooked for a good amount of time. But we want to be hooked for even longer! You can choose to replay the missions ompn higher difficulties, but it’ll still be the same missions. So the game has decent replayability. But not enough for a rating higher than three.
Pricing 8/10
It’s intro sale price is $2.99, it’s a great price for a game with so much polish. The standard price? The standard price will be $4.99, even at that price the game is still a fair purchase if you consider the production costs it took to make the game. But in the end, it should have a slightly lower price due to the lack of replayability.
Overall 8/10 — 4/5
I believe this is a game no iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad owner should miss! It’s the classic chopper game made even better! But the decision is still up to you. I just hope this review convinced you enough to buy it. Truly money well spent!
